On August 21, actor Lee Jong Suk partook in an interview to discuss his new film “V.I.P.”

He talked about his recent Instagram post where he explained how his fan meeting might be delayed and hinted at frustrations with his agency YG Entertainment.

Lee Jong Suk said, “When doing social media, fans are in zeroth place (before first place). There’s a lot of people who say social media is unnecessary and frivolous, so I don’t write comments often because I know there’ll be an article if I write. The goal of using social media is ‘Telling fans I did today’!”

The actor continued, “As for the fan meeting, it’s a non-verbal promise I made with fans. I’ve done one every year around the same time and date. Since it could have gotten canceled or delayed, I explained a bit more. I didn’t imagine that it would be interpreted as an attack.”

He continued, “YG is a good company. It’s a good company, but I unintentionally got into a sticky situation. Since there were company opinions about the fan meeting I thought ‘it could get delayed and it could get pushed back,’ so I wanted to let [fans] know but I think I got the wording wrong.

Lee Jong Suk laughed and commented, “Since there is fan meeting work done by external parties, other teams are uncomfortable around me. It’s hard to making a living.”

Meanwhile, “V.I.P” is a film about a VIP guest from North Korea who is suspected of being a serial killer. It opens in theatres on August 23.

BIGBANG’s Taeyang spoke about how much BIGBANG means to him and also opened up about how he tried to be there for T.O.P throughout his recent controversy.

Taeyang held a press conference for his third solo album “White Night” on August 16 and when asked about whether he’s been keeping in touch with T.O.P, he said, “I think the best I can do for him is to be by his side. There are things that he has to process and realize on his own, so instead of giving him advice, I think it’s better for me as a fellow member and friend to call him more than I usually do and visit him as much as I can.”

He continued to show affection for T.O.P as he added, “I try to be by his side as much as I can. I try to listen to his thoughts and talk to him about them. But when we meet, we talk about little things more than we do about serious things.”

Taeyang’s love for his fellow BIGBANG members was evident as he stated, “We’ve been together since we were young, and even now, we care about each other and we’re each other’s friends and family. Of course my music is influenced by all of the things I’ve done as a member of BIGBANG. BIGBANG is my beginning, my roots. That can’t be ignored.”

He continued to add, “My music and my work as BIGBANG is so important to me. My work as a solo artist is also important to me. There are many reasons why people release solo albums, but for me, my main goal is for this new album to have a positive impact on my own music and on BIGBANG as a group. Seeing G-Dragon’s recent album receiving a lot of love from people was a source of motivation for me. I believe that our individual activities have a positive impact on each other.”

Taeyang also spoke about his relationship with Min Hyo Rin during his press conference and how she influences his music.

When FTISLAND’s Choi Jong Hun and Lee Hong Ki made an appearance on the July 27 episode of “Happy Together,” no one was probably expecting to hear this much about Choi Jong Hun’s relationship!

Just last month, the idol confirmed that he and rhythmic gymnast Son Yeon Jae were dating, after an initial report from Dispatch.

When host Yoo Jae Suk questioned if it was alright for him to come out on broadcast, Choi Jong Hun easily replied, “It’s not a problem even if I appear. It’s not as if I committed a crime.” He joked that many people would see that he did, since he’s now the envy of many men.

As the conversation continued, the idol shared that he and Son Yeon Jae have now been dating for around five months. When asked, Lee Hong Ki revealed, “I really didn’t know a lot about this. I did meet her once, over a meal.”

“Hong Ki was the first person I wanted to introduce her to,” Choi Jong Hun explained. “But, as soon as he met her, Hong Ki [jokingly] asked, ‘Why are you dating someone like him?'”

Choi Jong Hun also opened up about how while they haven’t gone to a karaoke place together yet, he has somewhat sung to her. “I’ve more or less recited lyrics to her,” he elaborated. “The lyrics were from Han Dong Geun’s ‘Amazing You.'”

Unable to resist, Lee Hong Ki slyly joked, “[That’s] over-the-top,” using the same word that is used in the Korean title of the song. His teasing didn’t end there, because when the hosts asked how he feels about his bandmate’s happiness, Lee Hong Ki amusingly responded, “I don’t really want to see him these days.”

All jokes aside, sounds like Choi Jong Hun and Son Yeon Jae’s relationship is going strong!

On July 24, Song Joong Ki sat down for an interview about his new movie “The Battleship Island” and brought up his upcoming marriage with Song Hye Kyo.

He said, “Married people often say that [when you’re engaged,] the marriage doesn’t feel real until the day of the wedding. It’s the same for us. It hit me when when I was walking here from the parking lot and people said to me, ‘Congratulations.’ I went to the sauna this morning, and the lady who works there also said, ‘Congratulations.’ When fans or other people congratulate me with a smiling face, I’m filled with an emotion greater than gratitude. It makes me think that I should live a happy [married] life.”

Regarding the timing of his marriage announcement, Song Joong Ki stated, “I wanted to announce it after the premiere of ‘The Battleship Island,’ but things don’t work out the way you want them to. After thinking about it for a while, I told Song Hye Kyo that we should announce it. I feel apologetic about the spotlight being on me ahead of the [movie’s] premiere, but marriage is an important matter. There were many groundless rumors about Song Hye Kyo and me, and we were upset about that. That’s why we decided that we should reveal it. That day, both of our hearts were beating quickly.”

He then revealed that Lee Kwang Soo had texted him the day before the interview, saying, “I can’t believe you’re getting married.” Song Joong Ki remarked, “He seemed to be tipsy. Some people can’t believe it. I guess it hasn’t hit them yet. The most common reaction I get from people is ‘Congratulations.'”

Actress Nam Ji Hyun, who recently starred in “Suspicious Partner,” spoke about the pressure that child actors are under as they grow into full-fledged adult actors.

On the July 24 broadcast of KBS Cool FM’s “Kim Ye Won’s Raise the Volume,” Nam Ji Hyun appeared as a guest. Nam Ji Hyun, who started off as a child actress, said, “When I first started acting, I was a bit confused. It wasn’t something that I tried because I really wanted to, and my parents didn’t force it on me, either. I started it because I thought it would be a special experience that would be helpful in the future, but it connected to dramas and even movies.”

Nam Ji Hyun confessed, “I think most child actors go through this. As they become adults, they feel the need to show that they’ve grown up. I think that’s when they start finding their own color. It really changes a lot based on what path you take.”

She said that she went through the same dilemmas. “Because my work wasn’t something that I chose because I wanted to, I had a lot of second thoughts in middle school and high school about the career itself. I wasn’t confident about it, so I thought about it a lot. But when I became an adult, I stopped thinking about it.”

She revealed, “When I turned 20 years old, the work environment changed a lot. When I went on to university, my personal life changed too, and the environment around me also changed. My thoughts changed, and I accepted new things, and my problems resolved on their own. Time fixed everything.”

Girls’ Generation recently shot a pictorial for W Korea’s August issue to commemorate the group’s upcoming 10-year anniversary.

In the interview, titled “A Decade to Remember,” each of the Girls’ Generation members were interviewed about how they’ve changed since their debut, what ‘Girls’ Generation’ means to them, and the highs and lows of the past 10 years.

YoonA said, “We all grew and matured through building up experience. We’ve grown comfortable with things that used to make us nervous or awkward. Personality-wise, I think Seohyun has changed the most. She used to be introverted but now she is more energetic and approaches people first. That’s partly due to her own efforts and partly because of the members. Tiffany has improved a lot in Korean and chooses her words well in interviews.”

Sunny dispensed some advice to her juniors in the industry, saying, “I think it’s a good idea to try all the things you want to try, as long as it’s appropriate for your age and you can take responsibility. That’s how you get to know what you’re good at it and what you really want to do. Of course, you have to shoulder both success and failure yourself so it’s not easy to do.”

Tiffany said, “‘Girls’ Generation’ is a place where I learn only good things. It’s an honor that only comes once in a lifetime. It’s destiny. I love Girls’ Generation so much that if I was born again I’d want to be a member of this group again. While preparing for this comeback, we looked back at the videos from our debut. They’re my members, but I’m still impressed how we worked so constantly, trying acting or variety when we weren’t putting out music.”

Yuri said, “[We’ve maintained a good relationship for 10 years] by always being careful. We’re more careful now in some ways than we were 10 years ago. The members and Girls’ Generation are precious to me so we try to hold ourselves above things. When negative things happen, I think that’s the easiest way to be easygoing and get along. We’ve come to a time when we can act like a family and cherish each other.”

Sooyoung said, “What we gained in the past 10 years are memories and experience. If we’ve lost something, it’s time. It might be a contradiction to say we’ve gained memories and lost time, but I think it’s true. However, we’ve gained more than we lost so I don’t regret anything.”

Hyoyeon shared what she most likes to hear from the public, saying, “I’m always hungry for praise. I like all kinds of praise. In the past, I really liked hearing that I was pretty or I’d gotten prettier. Now I like hearing that I have a lot of appeal. It means that I have found my own color.”

Taeyeon talked about the group’s new album, planned for this August. “It was hard to bring out the key point of a short part,” she said. “Maybe it was a result of having promoted solo for so long. I thought a lot about how I could match better with the other members while recording.”

Seohyun talked about her clean-cut image, saying, “I do want to let myself go a little. I’ve always set rules for myself like, ‘I have to go home by this time. I won’t date anyone.’ But I think it was a good thing to live like that so I have no regrets.”

BIGBANG member T.O.P has received a sentence for his marijuana case.

On July 20 at 1:50 p.m. KST, the final trial for T.O.P’s marijuana case took place. The court stated, “The defendant has acknowledged all of the charges made against him and has been found guilty. Drug-related crimes not only hurt the individual’s health but it can also have major negative effects on society as a whole, so there is no choice but to give a severe punishment.

“However, we have taken into consideration that the defendant is sincerely self-reflecting, and that he does not have any previous criminal offenses.”

Therefore, the court announced that T.O.P will be receiving a 10-months prison sentence suspended for two years, as well as a fee of 12,000 won (approximately $10.7). This means that T.O.P will be spending two years in probation, but will have to spend 10 months in prison if he violates the condition of the suspension during those two years.

Meanwhile, T.O.P is currently in a position where he has to finish his mandatory military service. If he had received a prison sentence that exceeded 18 months, he would have been forcibly retired from his current military service and given a special status.

However, because his suspended prison sentence is less than 18 months, his local police agency, where he was serving as a conscripted police officer, must now determine whether or not it is proper for him to continue in his current position or in a new one to serve out his remaining 520 days of mandatory military service.

On the June 20 broadcast of tvN’s “Life Bar,” Jung Yong Hwa revealed, “[When I was caught up in all of it], I was having all sorts of thoughts. I had never experienced anything like it before.”

Last year, Jung Yong Hwa was suspected for insider trading when he acquired 400 million won (approximately $347,000) worth of FNC stocks, with which he made a profit of 200 million won (approximately $173,400) when FNC recruited a major celebrity shortly afterwards. UEE has deleted her Instagram account after receiving accusations of dishonesty regarding her relationship with Kangnam.

Prior to the deletion, UEE had apologized for causing confusion after initially posting a personal message of denial on her Instagram account.

When the dating reports first surfaced, UEE denied romantic ties with Kangnam on her Instagram until Dispatch revealed photos of the couple embracing in front of UEE’s home. After the release of Dispatch’s photos, UEE’s agency admitted through an official statement that the two celebrities have indeed started date recently.

However, fans accused UEE of being dishonest before evidence of her relationship with Kangnam was revealed.

As the public opinion grew more negative, UEE took to Instagram again to apologize for her initial denial.

Her full statement of apology read, “I posted out of panic at the sudden reports that divulged my relationship of three months. I apologize once again. Lee Si Young has announced her plans for marriage and is going to be a mother!

On July 13, the actress posted a personal message on her Instagram account as an explanation for the sudden news.

See her statement below:

“Hello, this is Lee Si Young.

“It’s a little embarrassing, but this is the first time I’m writing a letter through social media. Rather than having everyone learn about it through reports, I wanted to be the one to share the news personally. I’m hoping that misunderstandings will not happen later on if I share the news myself.

“I am planning to marry the person I love in the fall. It might be a bit sudden, but after the drama finished, I discussed it with our families and we came to this conclusion. The reason why we’ve suddenly scheduled plans for the ceremony is because I am 14 weeks pregnant and will soon become a mother.

“I found out about it while I was filming for the drama, and so I was worried and a little scared at the sudden news, but I was firstly grateful that a new life was coming. But because I had such a busy schedule, I honestly didn’t know what to do. I also didn’t want the drama production team to receive any damage if the news got out, and so I couldn’t tell anyone.

“My biggest fear was that our drama would receive damage, and so my future husband and I did not tell the staff, our families, and even the agency until the drama was over. Of course the action scenes and wire scenes were not easy, but watching the baby grow healthily gave me courage and I became more positive during filming than I was for any other previous filming.

“Because it wasn’t just about me anymore, I became more brave and grateful while doing the hard action scenes. Before writing this message, I personally told the directors and the staff on set [about the news] as well as the agency, and I felt more apologetic and grateful when they responded by saying they felt sorry [for not knowing]. After discussing with both families, we decided to hold the wedding on September 30 of this year.

“In the future, I will be working hard during the remaining filming and I am planning on working hard to prepare to become a good mother. I will strive to become more humble and thankful as a good wife and a good mother. I would appreciate it if you could please support us. Thank you.”

Congratulations to Lee Si Young and her husband-to-be!

On July 14, industry representatives reported that the two started dating about three months ago after starring on “Law of the Jungle” together. One source commented, “Kangnam’s distinct sociability and honest personality captured her heart. Rumors started spreading as they met up personally with acquaintances.”

A photo of them eating together at Namhansanseong was posted on social media and added to the rumors.

Shortly after the reports were released, UEE’s agency Yuleum Entertainment responded, “We have checked with her, and it is definitely not true that they are dating. The two of them are just close friends.”

If I really start dating, I’ll tell you!! But right now I’m just busy!!! #Manhole”

Kangnam’s agency said, “Because it’s a private matter, we have no comment.”
