After making two trips to Singapore for a combined showcase with fellow Korean idol bands, miss A, a four-member Korean girl group was in town -- for the third time -- on Thursday and Friday to hold their first solo showcase and fan-meet session.
Prior to the start of the press conference held at Hard Rock Hotel, Resorts World Singapore, the showcase organizers shared with us stories of the girls' encounter with their passionate local fans.
When asked to share their thoughts on Singaporean fans after yesterday's fan-meeting, rapper and lead dancer Meng Jia, 24, admitted that she was "taken aback" when a fan burst into tears after meeting her at the autograph session.
"This is my first encounter with a fan who cried [after meeting me]. I gave her a hug and consoled her. I'm really happy to see the strong passion they have for the group," said Jia in fluent Mandarin.
With half the group hailing from China (Jia's from Hunan and Fei's from Hainan), the 15-minute long press conference was held wholly in Mandarin. Language proved to be no barrier for fellow members Lee Min Young (Min) and 16-year-old Bae Soo Ji (Suzy) as the two of them also took the opportunity to flaunt their basic understanding and conversational skills in Mandarin, with minimal help from a translator.
