According to Gaon’s official music chart, as of December 9th, SNSD’s ‘The Boys’ which dropped back on October 19th has sold 65,048 copies in November alone and ‘The Boy’s has cumulatively sold an impressive total number of 293,042 copies.
With this accomplishment, they’re the first girl group to achieve over 200,000 album sales in 2011 and they’re about to break the vaunted 300,000 mark.
For the month of November, behind SNSD’s ‘The Boys’ was JYJ‘s special edition album ‘In Heaven‘ which sold 62,790 copies followed by IU‘s second full-length album ‘Last Fantasy‘ which sold 44,360 copies, which was a very impressive number considering it was released on November 29th.
Wonder Girls‘ second album ‘Wonder World‘ which dropped this past August secured the #4 spot with 35,051 sales and coming in at fifth place was Lee Seung Gi‘s fifth full-length album ‘Tonight‘ which sold 31,668 copies. T-ARA‘s EP album ‘Black Eyes‘ sold 30,936 copies to seize the #6 spot and Kim Dong Ryul‘s new album ‘KimdongrYULE‘ came in at 7th place selling 22,487 copies.
The Gaon Chart album sales numbers are calculated by subtracting the number of returns compared to the production number from the wholesale quantity. These numbers are released from each album production company warehouse.
SNSD to release U.S. maxi-single in December
After postponing the release date of their U.S. maxi-single for weeks, SNSD is finally ready to “bring The Boys out”!
According to Amazon.com, the girls will be unleashing ‘The Boys‘ on December 20th. The single contains several different remixes of their hit song, including an a capella version as well as an instrumental. Many of you may recognize one of the remixes from SNSD’s dramatic performance at the ‘2011 Mnet Asian Music Awards‘ in Singapore.
