Kim Young Kwang revealed his sadness about not being able to do much as a friend for Kim Woo Bin’s illness.

In a recent interview, Kim Young Kwang talked about his model-turned-actor friends and expressed his concern for friend Kim Woo Bin, who is currently battling nasopharyngeal cancer.

As well-known best friends in the industry, Kim Young Kwang, Kim Woo Bin, Hong Jong Hyun, Lee Soo Hyuk, and Sung Joon all went through the process of being acting rookies to successful actors together. The five were even cast in in a past drama, KBS’ “White Christmas,” at once.

Kim Young Kwang mentioned his concern for one of the five friends Kim Woo Bin, who has halted all activities for recovery after being diagnosed with cancer.

Kim Young Kwang expressed how worried he is about his friend. He shared, “I’m really concerned. It’s more saddening that there’s nothing I can do for him as a friend.”

Then, he sent a message of support for Kim Woo Bin’s recovery, saying, “The only thing I can do is to send a message of encouragement. I hope Woo Bin beats through it. I hope and believe that he will get better soon and show us great things.”

After it was revealed that actor Kim Woo Bin was diagnosed with nasopharyngeal cancer, fellow actor and girlfriend Shin Min Ah stated through her agency that she would be helping Kim Woo Bin through his treatment.

Since then, there have been numerous sightings of Shin Min Ah accompanying Kim Woo Bin to the hospital as he receives drug and radiation therapy.

One industry insider stated, “Many people’s attention have been drawn to Shin Min Ah as she always accompanies Kim Woo Bin to the hospital when he goes for treatment. There are a lot of people at the hospital, but because they are such a good-looking couple, I think many people notice them.” The insider added, “Many inside the hospital have said that they can’t help but send the couple their encouragement and support because the two are always seen smiling even in the midst of a very difficult situation.”

Shin Min Ah and Kim Woo Bin’s relationship became public in 2015 after the two became close during endorsement activities for fashion brand Giordano and started dating.

On May 25, actor Kang Ha Neul took to Instagram to write a heartfelt message to his good friend Kim Woo Bin in light of recent news.

The actor said, “My heart hurts and I get worried when one of my family members even catches a cold… My friend is currently going through a difficult time because of a rare disease. I knew about his diagnosis in advance but, now that many others know, I am writing this post to request something [of the public]. They say that if you genuinely have a clear heart and good intentions, you can create a miracle. I ask that you encourage my friend and request that you say things with a warm heart and kind intentions.”

He continued, “We always said we would go get a drink together at some point but, because of our busy lives, I was unable to take care of my friend and for that I am very apologetic [to him]. My friend maintains his humor and wit, despite the unfortunate situation he has been handed. I hope that he is able to move forward without losing his smile.”

Kang Ha Neul ended his message by saying, “Woo Bin, I love you. Hang in there. Let’s continue to smile.”

Kim Woo Bin’s agency recently gave an update on the actor’s health.

On May 24, his agency Sidus HQ released an official statement, saying, “Kim Woo Bin recently noticed something abnormal about his body while he was in the midst of multiple schedules. When he went to the hospital to see what it was, he received a diagnosis for nasopharyngeal cancer.”

The agency continued, saying, “Thankfully, they said it’s not too late to receive treatment, so he has started radiation therapy and is taking medication. He will be focusing on treatment so that he can return with a healthier image. We are currently discussing his schedule due to his treatment. We ask for your support and encouragement.”
