On July 21, a source from the Hope Bridge Association of the National Disaster Relief, a non-governmental organization, released a statement that said, “Yoo Jae Suk recently donated 50 million won (approximately $44,695) to victims who had lost their homes and properties due to the heavy rainfall in Korea on July 16 and 17.”

The source also commented, “He originally did not want anyone to find out about his generous donation, but the word got out in the process of our organization raising money to support the natural disaster victims. We are desperately trying to raise funds to help the victims, so we are very grateful to Yoo Jae Suk.” Furthermore, Yoo Jae Suk’s agency, FNC Entertainment, also released a statement on July 21 stating that they, too, were completely unaware of his donations.

Yoo Jae Suk also recently made another generous donation to aid and support comfort women.

On March 31, a source from his agency FNC Entertainment stated, “Yoo Jae Suk personally donates to a variety of places. However, the agency does not know the amount of his donations or how much he is donating at the moment. Yoo Jae Suk seems reluctant to release this kind of information.”

Meanwhile, one media source previously reported that Yoo Jae Suk has been financially supporting the living costs of a number of elderly folks who live alone. According to the report, he has been donating through the organization Beautiful Fund and has been supporting the elderly for the past 10 years.

Yoo Jae Suk has donated once again to help victims of a recent fire.

It was belatedly found out that the star had donated 50 million won (approximately $43,600) to the victims of a fire that occurred on January 15 at Yeosu Fish Market. Due to the fire that happened after midnight, 116 stores caught fire and about 7 billion won (approximately $6.1 million) worth of property was damaged.

According to reports from Hope Bridge Association of the National Disaster Relief, Yoo Jae Suk deposited 50 million won to Hope Bridge’s donation account in his name on January 18, just three days after the fire.

Hope Bridge stated, “When the huge amount was deposited to our account in the name ‘Yoo Jae Suk,’ we contacted FNC Entertainment to confirm.” Even Yoo Jae Suk’s manager reportedly did not know of his donation until the phone call.

Yoo Jae Suk met some of the store owners of Yeosu Fish Market when “Running Man” visited the location to film in December of 2011.

Yoo Jae Suk also donated 50 million won to the Seomun market victims last December.

A source from Hope Bridge added, “There are many more donations that Yoo Jae Suk has done in secret.”

Yoo Jae Suk has become the first Korean TV entertainer to have his own spot in the Grevin Museum, which features wax figures of famous people from around the world. Though the museum already features replicas of various Korean singers, actors, historical figures, and sports stars, this is the first time that a TV entertainer is being featured.

The comedian visited the Grevin Museum in Seoul to celebrate the release of his figure and said, “Even I was surprised when I saw the wax figure of me because it looks just like me. It was cool to see the wax figures of other famous celebrities like Psy and G-Dragon, especially because they look so alike. I hope that lots of people come to the Grevin Museum to see the wax figures, and have a fun and joyful time here.”

According to the museum, it took more than six months to create Yoo Jae Suk’s wax replica. The Grevin workshop team flew in from France last June to do the groundwork for the figure, and the final product was completed with glasses, sneakers and a suit worn and donated by the comedian himself.

Beatrice Cristofari, the general manager of the Grevin Museum, described Yoo Jae Suk as an icon of hope who brings happiness and joy to others and is loved by the majority of people in Korea as the nation’s representative entertainer and MC. She stated, “We hope that visitors to the museum will leave feeling happier and warmer after seeing Yoo Jae Suk’s wax figure, which aims to reflect the wit and warm consideration that the star possesses.”

MC Yoo Jae Suk, who split with his agency last year over issues of unpaid wages, has filed a civil lawsuit against both Storm E&F (formerly DY Entertainment) and SBS.
