On July 24, Song Joong Ki sat down for an interview about his new movie “The Battleship Island” and brought up his upcoming marriage with Song Hye Kyo.

He said, “Married people often say that [when you’re engaged,] the marriage doesn’t feel real until the day of the wedding. It’s the same for us. It hit me when when I was walking here from the parking lot and people said to me, ‘Congratulations.’ I went to the sauna this morning, and the lady who works there also said, ‘Congratulations.’ When fans or other people congratulate me with a smiling face, I’m filled with an emotion greater than gratitude. It makes me think that I should live a happy [married] life.”

Regarding the timing of his marriage announcement, Song Joong Ki stated, “I wanted to announce it after the premiere of ‘The Battleship Island,’ but things don’t work out the way you want them to. After thinking about it for a while, I told Song Hye Kyo that we should announce it. I feel apologetic about the spotlight being on me ahead of the [movie’s] premiere, but marriage is an important matter. There were many groundless rumors about Song Hye Kyo and me, and we were upset about that. That’s why we decided that we should reveal it. That day, both of our hearts were beating quickly.”

He then revealed that Lee Kwang Soo had texted him the day before the interview, saying, “I can’t believe you’re getting married.” Song Joong Ki remarked, “He seemed to be tipsy. Some people can’t believe it. I guess it hasn’t hit them yet. The most common reaction I get from people is ‘Congratulations.'”

Song Joong Ki is not afraid to express his love for Song Hye Kyo!

During the press conference for his upcoming film “Battleship Island,” the actor expressed how proud he was of his fiancée.

In the past, Song Hye Kyo rejected an endorsement deal with a Japanese company that had used forced labor during the Japanese colonial era. “I found out about this through a news article and clapped on the inside. I would’ve rejected the endorsement deal, too. It’s the logical thing to do,” said Song Joong Ki.

He then added, “The woman who made that decision is now the person I love.”

Meanwhile, “Battleship Island” follows the story of approximately 400 Koreans in the Japanese colonial era who try to escape a forced labor camp on Hashima Island. The film will premiere on July 26.

After news of Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo's marriage announcement, Dispatch released exclusive photos of the Song-Song couple's date in Tokyo back in January.

Dispatch revealed that they knew for a long time that Song Hye Kyo and Song Joong Ki were dating and even considered marriage. An entertainment insider revealed to Dispatch, "These two are really serious (and they're considering marriage)."





Although Dispatch knew about the dating and even captured them together on dates, they decided not to publish the news. They stated that if it was regular dating, they can just prove it with photos but marriage news is different. Dispatch needed concrete proof and for marriage and all the things that go with it, they had to be extra careful.

Actors Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo opened up about their upcoming marriage by posting statements on their respective fan cafes.

Song Joong Ki wrote, “I recently had the honor of participating in a production that could let me shine. It was such an amazing experience to me because I received so much undeserved love. During that time, I made a precious friend who eventually became my lover.

“In the beginning of 2017, the two of us promised to spend our lives together. In order to begin a new life where we can get through difficult times together, Song Hye Kyo and I have decided to get married on the last day of October.

“I think a lot of my loving fans would’ve been taken aback by the sudden news. I wanted to tell everyone earlier, but I had to be cautious because it was a decision that involved two people and their respective families. I also didn’t want to cause any trouble to the people involved in my upcoming film. I hope you will understand.

“I promise to live my life as a great actor and a reliable head of my family. I hope you will continue to support our relationship. Thank you.”

Song Hye Kyo also wrote to her fans, saying, “I think many of you would’ve been surprised by the sudden news. It may appear as if I lacked consideration for my fans, but I hope you will understand [my intentions].

“At first, Joong Ki was a colleague who clicked well with me. As we worked on a production together, we discovered that we had similar values and we could really talk about anything. Because he was a good friend and colleague, we continued to keep in touch even after the [drama] ended.

“Over time, the faith and trust that Joong Ki had shown me helped me imagine a future with him. I was thankful that he had such genuine feelings for me, and I was also able to confirm my own feelings for him.

“I wanted to relay the engagement news to my fans first, but I had to be careful because it wasn’t only my decision. I feel nervous announcing the news all of a sudden, but I trust that my fans will support me. Please continue to love me like you have until now. I want to thank my fans for waiting and believing in me.

“The two of us will live happily. Please give us your blessings! Thank you.”

Earlier today, top stars Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo announced that they will be getting married in October.

On July 5, a close acquaintance of the two actors revealed, “They started having feelings for each other before ‘Descendants of the Sun‘ had aired. The drama was pre-produced so they actually began filming in the second half of 2015.”

“Then early last year, Song Joong Ki secretly brought over some snacks to the set of Song Hye Kyo’s photo shoot. It was even before their drama began airing, so the staff wondered why he came,” the acquaintance added.

Another alleged acquaintance further shared that Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo sometimes accompanied each other whenever they had international schedules. Before their relationship began, Song Hye Kyo felt a bit reluctant to date a celebrity, but she was eventually won over by Song Joong Ki’s sincerity.

The acquaintance explained, “Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo didn’t really try to hide their relationship from the people around them. They first told people they trusted, and if someone else asked about it, they neither affirmed nor denied.”

It was then revealed that the actors didn’t want their dating news to be reported by the media, because they wanted to be the first ones to tell their fans about their relationship.

After news broke that Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo were getting married this fall, a source from UAA, Song Hye Kyo’s agency, stepped up to deny some of the rumors of premarital pregnancy surrounding the announcement.

“It is absolutely not true [that Song Hye Kyo is pregnant],” the source stated. In response to a question asking whether the two actors started dating after their hit romance drama “Descendants of the Sun,” the source simply said, “We don’t know.”

It has now been announced that Korea’s dream couple Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo will be getting married in October.

The agencies of the two co-stars of 2016 hit drama “Descendants of the Sun,” Blossom Entertainment and United Artists Agency (UAA), have issued a joint statement on July 5.

It reads as follows:

“Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo will be holding a wedding ceremony on the final day of October, 2017. A marriage is not only a private matter but also a meeting between two families, so it was a delicate situation in many ways.

“There was no choice but to be cautious prior to marriage, and so we are at last conveying this message. We ask for everyone’s understanding.

“We ask for you to send the couple best wishes for their beautiful future together, and the two actors will be conveying the news to their fans separately. Thank you.”

Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo were caught up in dating rumors again, and their agencies have spoken up.

Several Chinese news outlets reported that Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo may be dating, as they were spotted on the Indonesian island Bali at the same time. Song Joong Ki was there from June 7 to June 13, while Song Hye Kyo was seen on June 15. Some outlets reported that they were spotted together in Nusa Dua, and they returned to Korea separately with a three-day gap between their flights.

Song Joong Ki’s agency Blossom Entertainment stated on June 19, “Song Joong Ki visited Bali with his friends prior to promotional activities for his movie ‘The Battleship Island,'” while Song Hye Kyo’s agency UAA explained, “It is true that she went to Bali, but she went to attend a meeting for a project, not to meet Song Joong Ki.”

The two actors previously starred in the hit drama “Descendants of the Sun” together and received lots of love as the Song-Song couple.

Meanwhile, this is not the first time that dating rumors about Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo have surfaced. Last March, they were spotted shopping together in New York, leading fans to believe that they were dating. They denied the reports at the time as well.

Actress Song Hye Kyo expressed that she would like to work with Gong Yoo in the future.

On May 4, Song Hye Kyo attended a fashion event in Hong Kong, where she was told that Gong Yoo was also currently in Hong Kong for a fan meeting.

“We’ve never done a production together before and I haven’t met him yet, so I don’t know him personally,” she shared.

When asked whether she would like to star in a production with him, she responded that she’d like to try working with him if the opportunity arises.

While not everyone could understandably be there, since many of the actors are filming other projects at the moment, everyone who was there looks like they had a great time.

Not only did they reportedly meet for the anniversary, but they also celebrated Song Joong Ki’s recent win at the 29th Korea Producer Awards, where he was awarded in the acting category for his role as Captain Yoo Si Jin.

“Descendants of the Sun” originally ran from February 24 to April 14, 2016, excluding the special episodes. Fans of the drama couldn’t help but reminisce once seeing the photo, commenting things like, “It’s hard to believe it’s already been a year since the drama has ended,” and “I want to see Song-Song couple reunite in another drama.”

In the March issue of W Korea, Song Hye Kyo revealed which actresses she would like to work with, life as an actress when she was in her twenties, and the prospect of getting married.

In response to a question asking which actresses she wants to work with, she responded, “I’ve vaguely imagined acting with a bunch of women, and two people who were always in that picture were seniors Jeon Do Yeon and Kim Hye Soo. I’m very curious to know how they act on set, and I want to find out how they will influence my acting when I’m with them.”

“I heard they’re making a female version of ‘Ocean’s Eleven’ in Hollywood. It would be great if there were something like that in Korea as well,” she expressed, and continued, “I also want to try acting with fellow actors Jun Ji Hyun and Son Ye Jin, since their styles are very distinct from mine, and they already have a strong career in the movie industry. It would have been nice if I had been given those kinds of opportunities when I was younger.”

Regarding her relationship with female colleagues when she was in her twenties, she named Choi Ji Woo and Kim Hee Sun as some of her seniors that treated her well.

She added, “I wanted to get close to a lot of actresses at the time, but in your twenties you end up in a fierce competition without even meaning to. That creates a difficult atmosphere to make friends. Now that I’m in my thirties, I feel like the competition was all for nothing, and I want to find people close to my age that I can become good colleagues with.”

With the passage of time, the people around Song Hye Kyo are getting married and having children. “I also think I should get married. I used to think it was easy, but it’s getting harder and harder because the people I can date are limited, while my expectations are becoming more specific. When I hear stories from married people around me, my fantasies about marriage fade away little by little.”
