Super Junior’s Eunhyuk has finally been discharged from the military!

On July 12, Eunhyuk completed his military service. About 500 fans from Korea and also abroad waited for him to be released to congratulate him. His bandmates Leeteuk, Yesung, Shindong, and Donghae also showed their loyalty by coming out to welcome him back.

Eunhyuk began, “It’s definitely a bit bittersweet. I’m nervous because it’s my first time in front of a camera in so long.”

He said to his fans, “I’m being discharged with a happy heart. Thank you so much for waiting for me in good health for the past two years. I’m sorry for making your hearts ache.” He also emphasized that the letters and gifts he got from fans while he was in the army was of great strength. He also teared up, at which fans chanted, “Don’t cry!”

He also spoke about Super Junior’s stage at the recent SMTOWN Concert. Only four members (Leeteuk, Yesung, Shindong, Kim Heechul) could stand on stage. About this, Eunhyuk said, “We debut as the largest number of members and went on stage with the fewest. That made me choke up a bit. However, it is inevitable as the members are diligently serving in the military. Because of that, I’m very grateful towards the older members. Since we will be coming back as seven members, we hope to show you a full stage.”

Currently, his bandmates Choi Siwon, Donghae, Ryeowook, and Kyuhyun are still serving in the military. Eunhyuk said, “I hope the rest of the members come back healthy.”

Meanwhile, Eunhyuk will be meeting with his fans on July 23 with a fan meet titled “Hello Again.” He will be conducting the fan meet with Donghae, who is to be discharged two days later.

Super Junior will be making its comeback in October with seven members.

Last month, one of Super Junior’s most influential fan communities announced that they would be boycotting all of Sungmin’s activities as a celebrity.

On July 6, a representative from Super Junior’s agency SJ Label stated, “Sungmin, who recently had an issue with his fans, will not be joining the SMTOWN concerts held in Korea and Japan. Kangin, who is currently self-reflecting on his drunk driving case, will not be attending either. The rest of the members [who aren’t enlisted in the military] will be performing at the concert.”

Update: Earlier, Super Junior’s agency Label SJ announced that Sungmin would not be joining the SMTOWN concerts due to the recent fan boycott. In light of this, Sungmin has posted an apologetic message to his fans through his social media account.

On July 6, he wrote, “Hello, this is Sungmin. I’m writing to you all for the first time in a while for various reasons. First of all, I want to apologize for troubling so many fans. There has been a lot of negative talk surrounding me lately, but it was something I couldn’t act alone on, so I’m very sorry for the late response.

“When I look back to when I was getting ready for my marriage, I don’t think I was very considerate and truthful to my fans who have loved me for over 10 years. I think I should’ve communicated better with my fans who got hurt by various rumors and misunderstandings.

“While I was in the army, I always looked forward to promoting with Super Junior again. However, I really want the group’s next album to do well, so I have decided to withdraw from their upcoming promotions. As a member of Super Junior, I want the group to receive love for a very long time. Considering my ongoing controversy, I think my decision to withdraw from this album is best for the group.

“I’m really sorry to my fans who have loved and supported me, but I think I need more time to reflect and work harder. I ask all ELFs to support Super Junior’s upcoming comeback.”

Super Junior’s Leeteuk, who was recently the victim of a robbery in Switzerland, updated his fans to say that he is safe and back in Korea.

On June 27, he wrote a message on his Instagram. The full translation is as follows:

“I returned safely from Switzerland. This was my third time visiting the country and since I was a promotional ambassador for Switzerland, I felt even more familiar and excited, even before the filming began. After we arrived, we finished the filming well with all the staff and even Switzerland’s Chief of Tourism Commissions. However, we were all flustered and surprised at the unforeseen events that occurred before we left for the airport.

“I hope never to be in this situation again, but if I am, I think I will be able to deal with the situation better after this. I will explain this in more detail for tourists. No one was hurt, and everyone ate and slept well, and came back safely. I think on the July broadcast of ‘One Night Food Trip,’ you’ll be able to see the beautiful sights of Switzerland and the food as well. I’m also excited to see it.

“I’m sorry for making you worry, and I heard that it became big news in Switzerland as well. I think it’s most important to always be safe, no matter where you are. Thank you to SHINee’s Minho, who filled in for the broadcast, and sorry and thank you to the ‘Delivery’ staff. I will work even harder.”

Super Junior’s Leeteuk revealed that he was robbed on his trip to Switzerland.

On June 25, he posted a photo on his Instagram with the caption, “I need to go back to Korea…”

In the photo, the window of the back seat of a car, presumably the one that he had been using on the trip, is shattered.

Leeteuk added, “The staff’s phones and passports were all taken, too.” He then said, “I’m using social media to the Korean ‘Delivery’ program staff. It might be difficult to film right away after this.” He added, “Our passports were all robbed, too. We’ll get back [to Korea] soon.”

Leeteuk had been in Switzerland to film for the variety show “Delivery,” and just one day prior had met up with one of his fans.

Super Junior is getting geared up for their comeback this year by starting a group Instagram account!

On May 22, SM Entertainment announced the launch of Super Junior’s new Instagram account, which already features both group and solo shots of the guys.

Their first uploaded post was a group photo from their recent meetup (which included even members Eunhyuk, Donghae, and Choi Siwon, who were all on leave from the army) with the message in the hashtags “Super Junior full group, wait just a bit more.”

Super Junior is planning to make a long-awaited comeback in the second half of this year after Eunhyuk, Donghae, and Choi Siwon are discharged. Youngest members Kyuhyun and Ryeowook will not be taking part in this comeback because they will be fulfilling their mandatory military service (with Kyuhyun set to enlist very soon and Ryeowook already in the army).

Heechul talked about rumors that he was gay.

In an interview with Yonhap News, he said, "I'm not gay. I like women. But I realized that if I say I'm not and vehemently deny it, it's rude and hurtful to people who are actually gay. It's just a matter of preference, and it's just that everyone is different with different values. I decided I don't care even if people who have prejudices about me think that way."

On the rumors, he said, "Recently, those rumors were posted in the group chat room with Super Junior members and the managers. I was thinking, 'Who is this?' while reading it, and it turned out it was me at the end. The members and I laughed a lot about it. When the label asked if we should counter it, I said no. I'd of course, counter it if they were rumors about me doing illegal things. At first, I didn't like those rumors, so I grew a beard and cut my hair. But recently, I talk about the rumors myself so much that my mother texted me and asked what I'd do if I got caught up in rumors again, haha."

Super Junior's Shindong shared sincere thoughts about his weight.

The idol has been gaining attention and also criticism for his extreme weight gain. In a recent interview with Ilgan Sports, Shindong was, of course, asked about this hot topic.

Shindong revealed, "Surprisingly, I'm always on a diet. It's not my main focus right now, though. I got prescriptions for diet medication after I returned from the military but I didn't lose weight so I went for another consultation and they told me that I must've become immune to the medication. So I've been searching for other methods and ultimately decided to cut down on food, but it's hard to control myself."

When asked about his diet goals, Shindong answered, "I plan to gradually go on a diet until October. I'll be losing 20~30kgs (44 - 66 lbs) by October if I lose 2~3kg (4.4 to 6.6 lbs) per month. I can lose 2kg in 2 weeks. It's hard for skinny people to lose weight but I think I tend to lose weight more easily because I weigh so much and I exercise a lot."

However, Shindong revealed that the doctor advised him to not engage in rigorous exercise because of his high blood pressure. He'll be sticking to controlling his diet to lose weight.

Shindong was also asked, "Do you think you're handsome?" The idol answered, "I don't think I'm ugly. Doesn't everyone think this way? I don't think I've seen anyone more handsome than me among the people who weigh about the same as me. I used to think movie star Jack Black was handsome but I no longer think that. Right now, I'm really fat. You have to accept what you have to accept. I was even told that I look like a matchstick. They said my head is too big."

Kyuhyun spoke up to clear some misunderstandings about the fire in Taipei.

After fans became furious at some of the staff's actions after his hotel caught on fire, he himself took to Twitter to explain things. He tweeted, "I think there's a misunderstanding with the Taiwan fire.. To keep things short, I was in my room with my manager and staff to prepare the comments for my performance, and missed the timing to evacuate. We heard that the fire had been controlled, so I chose to stay in the room over going down the stairs and breathing in the smoke that way."

He added on, "Except the staff in my room, all the other staff evacuated following the hotel's instructions and waited outside for 3 hours.. I think I was the one at fault because I just figured there wasn't that big of a problem and kept staying in the hotel to work with the other staff. I don't want there to be problems after a good performance... Please have a good night!"

Do you think fans will be less angry now?

Actions of Super Junior's Kyuhyun's staff have ELF incredibly angry.

Kyuhyun was in Taipei when the hotel he was staying at caught on fire. Reportedly, instead of taking care of their artist, the staff evacuated by themselves while Kyuhyun stayed in his hotel room, preparing his comments for his performances, unaware of the fire.

He later told his fans that he tried to figure out what was happening when his room filled with smoke, but could not make his way down. The day after, he attempted to sing "At Gwanghwamun" with his bad throat (due to sleeping in the smoke), and apologized tearfully to fans while explaining the situation.

Fans are furious because while Kyuhyun was by himself in the smoke, his staff were all at Starbucks - and taking selfies while making hashtags such as #SleepingAtStarbucks and #MeetingOfFireVictims. Many fans believe one of the jobs of a staff member is to keep an artist safe, which they did not do when they left Kyuhyun in a hotel that was on fire filled with smoke.
